A cookie is a tiny data file that we transfer onto your device that you use to access the Star Citizen Wiki. We won't feed cookies to your browser unless it is necessary. Apart from Google Analytics and Cloudflare, all of our cookies are first-party and only utilized when needed. The data stored by third party services are all anonymized.

What types of cookies does we use and why?

Cookies are not required if you are only reading articles on Star Citizen Wiki. We use cookie in general to provide safer and better experience to you when you are browsing the site.

Functionality

These cookies help Star Citizen Wiki work and are essential in order to enable you to move around and use our features.

Name Service Expiry Why do we store it?
Token Mediawiki 6 months This cookie allows us to keep you logged in on the wiki. It is only stored when you choose "Keep me logged in" in the log in page.
UserID, UserName Mediawiki 1/6 months This cookie helps us to identify you to the wiki and allows us to keep you logged in on the wiki. It is stored for six months instead of one when you choose "Keep me logged in" in the log in page.
session Mediawiki Session This cookie helps us to manage your unique session on our wiki.

Preferences

These cookies store your preferences, so that they can be remembered the next time you use the Star Citizen Wiki, for a more customized experience.

changeslist-state Mediawiki 1 month This cookie is used to indicate whether you have hidden the legend box on the recent changes page. It is only active on the recent changes page.
cookiewarning_dismissed CookieWarning 1 month We use CookieWarning to add a cookie banner to our wiki. This cookie is used to indicate whether you have agreed with our cookie policy or not.
dismissSiteNotice DismissableSiteNotice 1 month We use DismissableSiteNotice to allow the site notice to be dismissed. This cookie is used to indicate whether you have dismissed the site notice or not.
hidetoc Mediawiki 1 month This cookie is used to indicate whether you have hidden the table of content on article pages. It is only active on pages with table of content.
VEE VisualEditor 1 month We use VisualEditor to provide an user-friendly interface to edit our wiki. This cookie is used to indicate whether you prefer the visual edit mode or the source edit mode. It is only active on pages that allow VisualEditor.

Analysis

These cookies count the number of visitors and collect information about how you use and discover the Star Citizen Wiki. This allows us to better understand your user experience on Star Citizen Wiki and helps us improve them for you and the others. These are the only third-party cookies that we use as there are no good first-party alternatives that allow us to provide the same user experience.

_cfduid Cloudflare 1 year We use Cloudflare to shield us from DDoS attacks. Cloudflare uses _cfuid to detect malicious visitors to our wiki and minimizes blocking legitimate users.
_ga Google Analytics 2 years We use Google Analytics (GA) to see how many people are visiting a page. GA uses _ga to distinguish visitors on our wiki. The data we obtained help us to improve your experience on the wiki. We have set GA to not store IP addresses.
_gat Google Analytics 1 minute Google Analytics uses _gat to limit the number of requests that we can make to their service in a given time period.
_gid Google Analytics 24 hours We use Google Analytics (GA) to see how many people are visiting a page. GA uses _ga to distinguish visitors on our wiki. The data we obtained help us to improve your experience on the wiki. We have set GA to not store IP addresses.

What are my cookie options?

While we do not have options to limit the use of cookies on our end currently, below are some of the options that you can do on your end. Although cookie is not required to browse the wiki, please note that some features may not function properly if you disable them. If you wish to avoid the use of cookie while retaining full functionalities on the wiki, you can safely disable the cookie that are not listed in the Functionality section.
