Overview

Genpub map.png

The Great GenPub War is an ongoing conflict between several factions, with two main sides: Fenlandia and its allies (Kingdom of Dragons, Rosenguarde), and the Villains. It started when previous ruler of GenPub, Nojus (see active users), stepped away from the server to focus on schooling. This then caused a divide and subsequent factions all vying for power.

Additionally, The Nerd Trifecta, a council occupied by Nojus, Sage, and Dowobop, immediately collapsed after the departure of Nojus, leading to Sage joining Rosenguarde. No one knows what happened to Dowobop, but rumors of her becoming a mob boss have arose.

Factions

Fenlandia

Flag of Fenlandia

Fenlandia was established shortly after the departure of Nojus. Fen, also known as Fenelope or LivingPlasma, declared herself Queen of GenPub, and renamed GenPub to Fenlandia (also known as the Republic of Fenlandia, despite not being a republic). Fenlandia is not a monarchy, however. It is an anarcho-communist state with no laws, and values the prosperity of all beings.

Fenlandia is allied with Bananaland, Rosenguarde (aka the Knights of the West), and the Dragon Kingdom. The Dragon Kingdom effectively became integrated into Fenlandia within a day of its existence.

The current Republic of Fenlandia confirmed members are as follows:

-Queen Fen of the Flowing Lotus. Established herself as Queen of GenPub, beginning Fenlandia.

-Princess Robin. Established as Princess of Fenlandia after asking Queen Fen very nicely.

-Lady Hazel, Sorceress of the Republic of Felandia. Established herself as the right-hand woman of Queen Fen. Has the ability to grow plants and an alarming rate.

-Devcey: Resident of Fenlandia. A member of the Republic of Fenlandia.

-Darkeyon, King of Sylvia. Initially the King of Dragons, Darkeyon formed an alliance with Fenlandia, knowing that he had no other members in his government. He now sits alongside the other members of the Republic of Fenlandia.

-Bug, Sqiure of Fenlandia. A member of the Republic of Fenlandia and the right-hand man of Queen Fen.

Villains

The Lichdom

The Lichdom is an anocracy ruled by the Lord of Bones and his House of Parliament. It lies on the border of Fenland in the middle of the Wastes of Arizona. It has a significant coastline primarily used for trade with all other powers. Trade is only permitted on the Port Fortresses, and attempting to enter the Lichdom from any other region will have the perpetrator detained.

The nation has recognized technological progress as the primary form of strength, with Liches being a scholarly position given to any Ghoul who has passed their higher education courses. This focus on education has given the Lichdom a high population of magically capable citizens to recruit from in the event of war. Their technological level exceeds any other nation’s by a wide margin, leading to developments such as the Mana Cored Steam Engine or mass manufactured battlestaves.

The nation and its people are primarily focused on one thing; defense. Everything from their daily routines to the design of their massive underground cities are built with battle in mind. Maintaining a King despite the presence of a democratically elected council is yet another adaptation to war, so that if an invading army were to march into the country, the nation’s reaction time would be fast enough to put up a suitable resistance.

The Twelve Fortresses are massive settlements carved into cavern-like cities dug under the stone deep beneath the Wastes. An invading army would have to contend with both the sweltering heat for days on end to reach the bone mashing defenses of the Fortresses. The native Ghouls are immune to the effects that the underground would have on the living, such as the boiling heat or asphyxiating air, allowing them to dig deeper and deeper cities. Trade between the cities is facilitated by trains built on narrow tunnels stretching miles, rigged to explode under orders from a military officer.

The nation has a strict legal code with attorneys, judges, and juries to convict any wrongdoers. There are equal rights for all Ghouls that can prove their sentience, separate systems for the living akin to animal protection laws, and no protections to mindless undead and automatons. The cities keep a small population of animals and detainees for scientific development and research. The Liches’s horrifying experiments on living organisms grant them mastery over life and death, and anything that may lay between.

The Lord of Bones reigns at the top and can push or propose any laws he may choose, but if the Parliament votes near unanimously against such a law, it can be vetoed. Similarly if over 50% of the thousand member council vote to present a bill it will be forwarded to the King, where he can reject or pass the bill into law. If the bill is rejected it will be pushed back into the Parliament where a vote is held. If 80% vote to pass the legislation into the legal system, the King’s veto will be bypassed. This system makes political developments slow to affect the nation, giving a clear view into its exact position to its rulers at any point in time.

The Lichdom is known to the outside world as a trade haven, where a anyone from all nationalities is accepted as long as the laws are respected. Its position as a vital trade hub makes the nation a neutral party between most other surrounding kingdoms and states. Of all of its exports, raw metals and goods are by far its most valuable asset. Most gets used up in the churning belts of industry, while the remainder is sold for any deficits. The most debilitating of all of the nation’s deficits is the common mana gem. While common in other places, the sands of the Wastes interfere with the formation processes of the crystals. Since mana gems are the most important facet of its industry, this dependence is uncomfortable for the nation. There have been numerous studies attempting to form synthetic gems, though most agree that stable production of these mana gems is a decade away at the least.

Current Lichdom Members are as follows:

-Alt, Lord of Bones, Founder of The Lichdom

-Bebs, Prince Regent, Trusted Advisor, Speaker of Parliament

Rosenguarde

Rosenguarde, also known as the Knights of the West, existed long before the conflict, but were never present in GenPub as a faction. After the departure of Nojus and the collapse of GenPub society, the leader of Rosenguarde, the Knight of the West, began to recruit new members swiftly.

Rosenguarde is currently allied with Fenlandia, and by-proxy Bananaland, though tensions between Bananaland and Rosenguarde are bubbling.

The current Rosenguarde members are as follows:

-The Knight of the West, Leader of the faction.

-Sir Sage, Knight of the Eclipse.

The Ocean was established by MC, a stray user who wished to get in on the action after the departure of Nojus. Their faction resides on a small island in the sea off the southern coast of The Eastern Continent, giving them the nickname of Atlantis. The Ocean is currently a neutrally-aligned nation.

The current Ocean members are as follows:

Bananaland was established by noneother than Banana, King of Bananaland, it was established before the power vacuum, however it quickly established itself as a superpower when the power vacuum started. Bananaland swiftly allied with Fenlandia, and by-proxy Rosenguarde, but when king Banana was given the oath he declined, making them enemies. He then briefly joined the villains but then switched back to Fenlandia, however that led to the King of Bananaland making threats to invade Rosenguarde.

The current members of Bananaland are as follows:

-Banana, King of Bananaland, Leader of the faction.

The One True Court

The One True Court is the highest acting court in the land, or well, over it. It is housed within an airship, which travels to necessary locations to pick up those awaiting trial and to neutral areas. It acts as a universal moderator in the rules of War and Politic. Fairness is its highest priority.

Current members are as follows:

-F.W. Bucket, Ronin Judge, Jury, and Executioner, Leader of the faction.

Bucket

Bucket is a philosophical faction started by the Ronin Judge, F.W. Bucket. Carriers of Buckets is the name given to the practicing followers of the beliefs. With an emphasis on universal compassion and intelligence, Carriers of Buckets are promoted to travel between lands and help those in need when warranted, as well as spread wholesome words and helpful ideas. F.W. Bucket welcomes those from any and all factions to follow in the faith and to have faith in themselves and others.
