Magical John (or "Magic John" in Tomodachi Life and Miitopia) was first summoned by accident in Scribblenauts Unlimited. RT was prompted to help a woman to "teach a plesiosaurus to shoot hoops". RT attempted to write "Michael Jordan", but autocorrections appeared and he changed it to "Magical John". (With “John” referring to John Waugh, one of the many developer self-inserts in Scribblenauts.) He promptly put Magical John in the backpack, as he found his face unnerving.

As an NPC, John acts like a cop and tries to fight criminals and other “bad” people, but is relatively weak when unarmed, and needs to be given a weapon to do noteworthy damage. He is also invincible to anything that isn’t an instant-kill, such as black holes or death himself. The “Magical” adjective also gives him some general magical properties. None of these traits are ever discovered or utilized by RT though.

Magical John was added as a hero in the third team of RTGame's Miitopia playthrough. His role was "Flower", meaning he had a flower hat on. His addition was met with an initially cold reaction from chat, with the majority stating that they felt nothing but hate for him. Despite this, RT suggested that Chat interact with John on a daily basis, which chat decided to do completely under their own free will. At some point, Chat became divided on their feelings for John, with some declaring eternal hatred, while others love him.

Origins

Magical John (or "Magic John" in Tomodachi Life and Miitopia) was first summoned by accident in Scribblenauts Unlimited. RT was prompted to help a woman to "teach a plesiosaurus to shoot hoops". He attempted to write "Michael Jordan", but autocorrections changed it to "Magical John", with "John" referring to John Waugh (one of the many developer self-inserts in Scribblenauts). He promptly put Magical John in the backpack, as he found his face unnerving.

Scribblenauts Unlimited

Along with the aforementioned incident, Magical John was once taken out of the backpack to help Steve Irwin find a dinosaur; however, he was no help, so he was put back in the bag. He was taken out again when the same dinosaur needed to be lured out of a bush, and he was placed in a cage as bait.

Much later, Magical John was brought out as an offering for the volcano goddess. The goddess took a liking to John, and took him as her new lover.

However, none of these traits are ever discovered or utilized by RT.

John also appears in the credits of the game, riding an oversized shrimp with dragon wings, and lacking any magic particle effects.

Tomodachi Life

Magical John was also an Islander on Island Island. His voice has been described by RT as "like nails on a chalkboard". He was referred to by his nickname: "Magic John". He went to a party celebrating Island Island reaching a whopping population of...ten.

Miitopia

Magical John was added as a hero in the third team of RTGame's Miitopia playthrough. His role was "Flower", which gave his avatar a flower hat. His addition was met with an initially cold reaction from Twitch chat, with the majority of its participants stating that they felt nothing but hate for him. Despite this, RT suggested that the character known as "Chat" interact with John on a daily basis, which Chat decided to do completely under their own free will. At some point, Twitch chat became divided on their feelings for John, with some declaring eternal hatred, while others love him.

The voice RT provides for Magical John matches perfectly with John's family-friendly nature. He was referred to by his nickname: "Magic John".
